We just knew. In the middle of one of our monthly blog meetings, we both looked up and knew. It was time.

Ooooh, time for what?

It was time to take ourselves, our blog and most importantly, you on a new journey…don’t stop believing…

It was time to leave the oh so warm and comfy WordPress.com and make the move to self-hosted.

We were on a new path. Our meeting went from simply planning the next month to planning our new transition.

Ive a feeling were not in Kansas any more. Quote

And here we are.

Our very first blog! Ahhh! What? Did we just say that?

Welcome to thehopegirls.com!

We are SUPER DUPER BEYOND EXCITED that you are here.

As the Pointer Sisters would say, “I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it”.

Wait! Stop for just a second. The Pointer who?

The Pointer Sisters, a singing group from the stone ages, you know…way back in 1982.

Okay, where were we? We are so happy you’re here!

The Hope Girls are all about giving tips and advice to help teens rock their life.

We are still here to answer your questions, talk about the things that matter to you, and help you conquer your teen years.

Check out our about page to learn more about The Hope Girls.

Throughout this process, two of life’s little lessons popped up.

Never let fear win and perfection is our enemy.

When fear and perfection smacked us in the face, they forced us to take notice. It was them or us.

Did you think we could make this big change and not learn something along the way? For us, that would be nearly impossible.

#1 Never let fear win!

FEAR likes to sit on the back of your neck and whisper, “you can’t do this, it’s too scary”.

When we decided to take this jump, fears began creeping in. We started questioning ourselves. Fear loves that.

Should we do it? Is it the right time? Will everyone like the changes? Can we actually do this?

YES, we should do it and YES we can. Take that fear! We did it!

Never let fear win! The next time you hear fear talking to you, swat it away like a pesky fly.

Thinking will not overcome fear but action will. W. Clement Stone

#2 Perfection is our enemy

Woo, we did it! We got over the fears and got to work!

We felt excited and confident, but we still wanted to make sure everything was just right.

Here is where the inner perfectionist started to speak up.

Each step turned into a twenty. We would stop, go over something, and go over it again…and again. We were driving ourselves crazy.
We were striving for perfection. Perfection thrives on that. It wants to keep you from living a full life. It makes you so super focused on each detail that you miss the bigger picture.

We realized we had two choices.

Choice one: keep striving for perfection and probably never finish the site or…

Choice two: push our enemy to the curb and have a site that was OUR best right now.

Here we are! So there perfection!

Don’t let fears and perfection stop you from getting what you want!

Go for it!

But what if it doesn’t work out? What if it fails?

We totally get those questions. We were there. But the next time they pop up in your beautifully messy brain, change the questions.

What if it does work out? What if it’s actually awesome? What if it makes me happy?

You won’t know until you go for it!

Have no fear of perfection - you'll never reach it. Salvador Dali

We overcame the fears and need for perfection and can proudly say we did it! We made our site.

We are passionate about sharing our vision with you. Mistakes and all.

We are all human. We all come with flaws and imperfections. That’s what makes us unique individuals.

We will never be perfect and we won’t pretend to be. We are going to be us and we want you to be you.

We’re glad you stopped by.

Have you ever let fear or perfection stop you?

and it sounds like…

“I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it
I’m about to lose control and I think I like it”
