How Can I Be More Kind?
How can I be more kind? I’m already a nice to all my friends, but I want to learn how to be nicer to everyone. It’s not that I’m rude. I just feel it in my heart I should be kinder and do kind things. Do you have any suggestions on how to do that?
You definitely don’t sound heartless!
We love this question. There’s always room for more kindness in the world.
Finding little ways to be kind is easy. There are opportunities all around you. Say hello to someone you normally don’t talk to. Hold the door for people. Say thank you to those you appreciate.
Here are 5 more simple ways to be kind
Write a note
A few kind words can change someone’s day.
Write a short note or uplifting quote and pass it along. Leave it on someone’s seat, slip it in a locker, or leave it on a table at a restaurant.
Give out compliments
Compliment someone. Anyone. Everyone. Who doesn’t want to hear nice things? A simple “I like that shirt” or “great question in class” lets someone know you noticed.
Surprise your parents by doing something unexpected. Help cook dinner, wash the dishes or anything you think would be helpful.
Be generous with your tips. Let your waiter or barista know you appreciate the work they do.
Coffee for two
Need a caffeine fix? Instead of buying one, get two. Give one away. Treat a friend, a teacher, or even a neighbor.
Every day, the world gives you chances to be kind.
Kindness is something that can happen anytime, anywhere. It doesn’t take much effort or planning, but the impact it has can be huge. Your words or actions might be just the thing someone needed today.
